A Taste of Augusta Travels to Kansas City

Sometimes, it takes a trip hundreds of miles away to remind us just how special some of the things in our own backyard can be.
That was the case when Andrew, better known online as BourbonDroid of Kansas City, attended the Kansas City Whiskey Festival and set out to sample the many bourbons and whiskeys being showcased at the event. With plenty of pours to choose from and a wide variety of distilleries represented, Andrew had the opportunity to taste his way through quite a selection.
But among all those samples, one Kentucky bourbon managed to really stand out — Augusta Distillery from Augusta, Kentucky.
In a TikTok video shared with his followers, Andrew talked about his experience at the festival and highlighted Augusta Distillery as one of the pours that caught his attention. After sampling so many different whiskeys, it was the bourbon from our small Ohio River community that left a particularly memorable impression. His description of the taste was simple but meaningful: delightful.
For those in Bracken County, there is something pretty special about seeing a local product make an impression on bourbon enthusiasts in a major whiskey market like Kansas City. Augusta Distillery has built its reputation around Kentucky bourbon tradition, with its products emphasizing cask strength, unfiltered whiskey and carefully selected barrels. The distillery describes its approach as “bourbon uncompromised,” with each barrel developing its own character over time.
And this isn't just another bottle with a Kentucky name on the label. Augusta Distillery is part of the community and part of the story of our region. Located along the Ohio River in Augusta, the distillery is helping put this small Bracken County town on the map for bourbon lovers looking for something beyond the big-name Kentucky destinations.
The recognition is also continuing to build. Augusta Distillery's current awards list includes numerous recent honors, including 2026 awards for its Small Batch Bourbon, Wheated Single Barrel and other expressions.
For a community like ours, it is always exciting to see something made locally travel beyond our borders and get noticed. Andrew's experience at the Kansas City Whiskey Festival is a great reminder that sometimes the bourbon getting people excited hundreds of miles away may be coming from a place much closer to home than they realize.
From Augusta, Kentucky, to Kansas City, Missouri — this is one bourbon story worth raising a glass to.
