It’s great to see the City and County working hand in hand on a project that could bring another great recreational opportunity to the Pendleton County community.
Plans are moving forward to explore improvements to the old tennis courts located near Miracle Point Playground at Pendleton Athletic Park. The proposed project would include pickleball courts and basketball courts, giving families, athletes and residents another place to enjoy outdoor recreation.
One of the key parts of the partnership is that the City will lease the property to Pendleton County for the project, allowing the County to move forward with improvements on the existing courts. It’s a great example of the City and County working together to make better use of an existing community asset and bring additional recreational opportunities to the area.
There are still details to be worked out. During the recent Fiscal Court meeting, the possibility of keeping at least one tennis court as part of the project was also discussed. The final number and combination of pickleball, basketball and tennis courts will be determined as the project moves forward.
The big news is that the Pendleton County Fiscal Court agreed to put the project out to bid, allowing contractors to submit proposals for the work.
This could be a fantastic addition to Pendleton Athletic Park and another example of local governments working together to improve recreational opportunities for the community. With Miracle Point Playground already nearby, the addition of new courts could make this area an even greater destination for families and residents of all ages.
