Local Voices. Rural Communities. One Media Network.

Rural News Media was created with a simple idea: rural communities deserve great local media that is focused on the people, places, businesses, events and stories that make their communities special.

Based in Northern Kentucky, Rural News Media is growing into a local media network dedicated to keeping residents informed, connected and entertained. Our coverage begins in Pendleton County and Bracken County, with a strong focus on local news, community happenings, high school and youth sports, events, tourism, outdoor recreation, local businesses and the people who call these communities home.

But our vision doesn't stop at county lines.

As Rural News Media continues to grow, we will expand our coverage throughout the surrounding rural communities, including Grant County, Harrison County and other neighboring counties throughout the region. Our goal is to create a trusted source where residents can find out what is happening in their own backyard — and in the communities just down the road.

More Than News

Rural News Media isn't designed to be just another news website. We want to become a central hub for rural life.

We'll cover the stories that matter to local residents, from community news and government updates to school activities, local sports, festivals, fundraisers, business openings, community organizations, tourism attractions and outdoor adventures.

We'll highlight the people who make our communities special and give local businesses, organizations and community groups an opportunity to reach the people who live, work and spend their time here.

We believe rural communities have incredible stories to tell. Sometimes those stories don't make it onto larger regional media outlets — and that's where we come in.

Introducing The Source Radio

Rural News Media is also home to The Source, our very own online country radio station.

The Source is being developed as another way for local residents to stay connected. Along with playing great country music, The Source will feature live DJs several times each week, bringing personality, conversation and a local feel to the station.

The radio station will also help deliver the same type of local information found throughout Rural News Media, including community news, local events, sports, tourism and other information important to residents.

Our vision is for The Source to become the soundtrack of rural life — a place where listeners can enjoy country music while also staying connected to what's happening around them.

Supporting Local Businesses

A strong local media organization needs strong local businesses, and Rural News Media is designed to create a win-win relationship between local businesses and the communities they serve.

Our primary revenue model is built around paid sponsorships and advertising partnerships. Local businesses and organizations can support Rural News Media while receiving valuable exposure across our growing network.

Sponsors may have opportunities to appear on our website, within news and community content, through display advertising, on The Source Radio, through radio commercials and promotional opportunities, and across our social media presence.

This model allows businesses to get their name in front of local audiences while helping us continue investing in local blogging, community coverage, sports, events and programming.

When local businesses support local media, everyone benefits.

Building Something for the Community

Our goal isn't simply to publish articles. We want to build a long-term local media resource that residents can turn to every day.

Whether you're looking for today's local news, trying to find something happening this weekend, following your favorite high school team, planning a weekend outdoor adventure, discovering a local business, learning about an upcoming festival or simply turning on some country music while you work, Rural News Media wants to be there.

We're especially excited about covering the things that make rural Kentucky unique — our small towns, farms, waterways, trails, festivals, local businesses, schools, community organizations and the people who keep these communities moving forward.

As we grow, we will continue expanding our coverage, our partnerships, our contributors, our sports coverage, our events calendar, our tourism content and our radio programming.

Our Vision

Rural News Media is being built for rural communities, by people who understand the importance of rural communities.

We believe local media should be accessible, positive, informative and connected to the people it serves.

We're starting with Pendleton County and Bracken County, expanding into Grant County, Harrison County and surrounding rural communities, and building a media network that can continue to grow alongside the communities we cover.

From breaking local news to community celebrations.
From high school sports to outdoor adventures.
From local businesses to tourism destinations.
From community events to country music on The Source.

Rural News Media is here to tell the stories of where we live.
